Fariha Rashid

Though Fariha’s work has evolved over the years, celebrating femininity – beyond the beauty of women’s bodies – has always remained a primary concern of her work. She uses birds, ropes, leaves and mannequins as symbols, and works with the intricate, traditional painting technique of miniature. She employs painting as a cathartic respite to her emotions; this process is apparent in her latest autobiographical work, depicting scenic parts of Northern Pakistan. The beautiful and calm imagery she creates is as cathartic for the viewer, as it is for the artist.
Fariha is based in Lahore and graduated from of the University of Punjab, with an M.Phil in Art History. She has been widely exhibited, including her 'Purgation', a solo show at Artscene Galleries (2016). Additionally, she works as a Lecturer of Fine Arts at University of Gujrat.
My art is… a self-explanatory process
