Jenine Sharabi

Jenine’s exuberant illustrations invite the viewer into her high-spirited, colourful universe. She sees her art practise as an extension of playing make-believe as a child, when she would spend hours ‘art directing’ her dollhouse into a perfect world of pink and plastic. This feeling of playfulness is still very present in her work; whimsical illustration allows her the space to make genuine inquisitions and gently ridicule situations in today’s society. Her critique of social and political idiosyncrasies, reflects her own life experience growing up in the Gulf, and the affect this has had on her identity and values as a woman of mixed religious and cultural background.
Jenine is an American-Palestinian artist born in Greece, living and working in Bahrain where she runs ‘Jenine Sharabi Studios’ specialising in print, digital and branding design and illustration. She graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, London. She has exhibited artwork in London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Rome and is a yellow pencil D&D winner.
